Diana Wu, MD

Diana is a general surgery resident at UT Tyler with a background in chemical engineering and a steady curiosity for how things work — whether that’s a surgical tool, a community system, or simply a problem waiting for a solution. She is especially invested in the growing field of surgical simulation, not just for improving technical skills, but for its potential in strengthening teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care. She has shaped her path through projects in medical education, community health, and surgical design that have provided the opportunity to work with brilliant collaborators and push her to think creatively and show up with intention.

Outside the hospital, she is usually reading, tinkering, or hunting down a new bean variety for her gardening collection. These small curiosities help her see the world in different ways and innovate.
