Announcing the WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare (WISH)

Posted on behalf of Robert M. Sweet, MD, FACS, Executive Director of WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare (WISH):

Dear UW Medicine faculty and staff,

As the newly appointed Executive Director of the UW Medicine's simulation programs formerly known as the Institute for Simulation and Interprofessional Studies (UW-ISIS), I wanted to express what a great honor it is to be provided the opportunity to join the UW Medicine Faculty and to contribute to this great organization and the community we serve through the duties provided to me by this position. As my first item of business, it is my pleasure to announce our much anticipated new title and branding.

On March 1st, the Institute officially changed its name to the WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare (WISH). In addition to continuing to grow and develop the outstanding educational programs under Dr. Brian Ross' leadership, WISH announces a new partnership with the Center for Research Education and Simulation Technologies (CREST).  This adds an exciting new capability of advanced simulation science research and development to our institute's capabilities.  Collectively, WISH as a name truly captures our purpose and broadens our vision.  Our new mission statement I believe accurately captures this purpose and vision:  "Improving the health of the public through innovative programs for the development, application, and dissemination of simulation science". We look forward to working with you closely towards meeting this mission.

Warmest regards,
Rob
