Predominant Pattern & or Distribution

Reticular, Diffuse

Additional Findings

Thickened interlobular septae and prominent bronchovascular bundles; airway thickening (bronchial cuffing) especially prominent in the bases (note normal ratio of airway wall to lumen is 1:8 and in this case, the airway walls take up much more space relative to their lumen). Interlobular septal thickening is smooth. Enlarged lymph nodes.

Pulmonary edema, lymphangitic spread of carcinoma, lymphoma, recurrent hemorrhage (Goodpasture’s). Less common: alveolar proteinosis, NSIP, DIP, LIP, exudative phase of AIP. Can also be seen in alveolar proteinosis accompanied by mosaicism.
